For All Cheese Chums

Hmm, yum I come as a chum of cheese
fan of all edibles that're cheesy
but if you're of those who don't choose cheese
you might find this poem too cheesy.

As for me, cheeseburger or yummy cheesecake
I can never be cheesed off by any cheese
This poem therefore is for cheesesake
Serve me the cheesiest pizza if you please.

Ah I'm so very fond of cheesy macaroni
Even greens become fun with pecorino
Couldn't resist a cheesy pizza with pepperoni
I'd love to taste a Spanish zamorano.

Cook that spaghetti or that bolognese
Top it with Scottish cheddar or mozzarella
All that's far tastier with layers of cheese
Cheese ain't merely for the mice of cinderella

And in my sandwich stuff that provolone or ricotta
for I've already tasted jibneh arabieh
Under the crescent moon, on the menu be crescenza
or even a candle-lit dinner for two and a dish of brie!

Lasagne with fontina or Asiago
Melty Greensward or gooey Gruyere
A cheesy casserole with manchego
And Roquefort's tasty I will swear

Be it cottage cheese or friesian
Greek feta cheese or french fromagefrais
You can bet I'd enjoy a Parmesan
anytime, anywhere, anyday!

A dollop of dunlop may not be so bad for a diet
but cheese is a major culprit behind any chubby cheeks
The desire to forever stay slim and light
has to compete against the desire for camembert with leeks

Next on my menu, american cream cheese
and I didnot forget Indian paneer cheese curry
Oh try some Swiss chard, lard with Swiss cheese
And you won't forget that taste in a hurry.

Say cheese, smile and say cheese for the cam saying wow now
Taste a slab of halloumi or Kasseri and thank God for the cow

A very clever and witty ode to cheese. And owed to cheese, I've put on one too many pounds. But your poem is making me laugh it off. Thank you, Zaynab for bringing it to my attention.

As good and engaging or should I say entertaining as I have read in long while. Pass it around - the poem as well as the cheese. They'll want more!

[[Beware the use of some words with some people! look up define come in Urban Dictionary. It lists come used as a noun, and i've heard it used as a verb in a related way.
AND while in the Urban Dictionary, look up cut the cheese! ! ]] So, today some of you readers have learned something, perhaps? ]]..............but, being a researcher and poetess, perhaps the author is aware of these things?

i 'love' the rhyme cheesecake/cheesesake. yum! not only a great rhyme, but also great alliteration!

if Spanish is capitalized, why not cinderella(another great rhyme word btw) ?

i grew up (and still) thinking that lasagna was the word for a recipe; it is used on menus for the following in any restaurant menu i have looked at [i think! maybe i'm wrong.]

    from Wikipedia:

Lasagne (/ləˈzænjə/ or /ləˈzɑːnjə/ or /ləˈsɑːnjə/, Italian pronunciation: [laˈzaɲɲe], singular lasagna) are wide, flat-shaped pasta, and possibly one of the oldest types of pasta.[1] Lasagne, or the singular lasagna, commonly refers to a dish made with several layers of lasagne sheets alternated with sauces and other ingredients.[2] .....................Bri did not know about lasagne/lasagna! ! !

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
cheese is a major culprit behind any chubby cheeks............in the U.S. i think of both face cheeks and butt cheeks when i read the poem's line. ;) :)

and I didnot forget Indian paneer..............pehaps: did not or didn't?

i am thankful you have shown honor to the cow(s) . don't forget the goats! ! maybe camels too?

cheese IS great! ! ! and sometimes it is even grated!

the poem is superb, and so is cheese. hurray for CHEESE! ! !

to MyPoemList and to a future showcase if i don't forget!

    bri :)

p.s. i once wrote a poem about macaroni and cheese.

What a wonderful celebration of one of my favourite foods. Just a recommendation, Zaynab. If you can get your hands on my local Lancashire cheese try that as a topping for bolognese. Sometimes, like you I use cheddar.
Love ripe Camembert. Must try it with leeks (a favourite vegetable of mine. This poem has to be one of my all time favourites on PH! I'll tell you a story about an old friend who owned a Cheese factory one day.

The poem freshens up the mood of a foodie. It reminds me of a Serial Quiz published in The Economic Times for seven days. It was all about cheese and is variants. It was then that I learnt about Swiss have more than 200 different varieties of cheese and much more world wide. This is a wonderful poem which entertains as well as informs. Loved reading it. Thanks a lot.
