Leaving - Poem by Stephanie Copus

I never understood why you left me.
Did I cause you too much trouble?
Did I not listen?
Or did you stop loving me?

I turned for but a moment
and poof, you were gone.
I was alone. you had left me alone.
Scared and in a strange place,
I was helpless.
A tiny girl in the big world.

I prayed and pleased. I cried and begged
Everyone else just walked on by...
You never came back.
Why didn't you come back?
Why don't you love me?
What can I do to make you come back?
