Story - Poem by Garrett Doff

A beautiful flower picked out from the garden by a young, care-free girl. She rushes in the house to show her mom and dad the beauty she found. They are happy for her. She lays it gently in her room and runs to get a nice vase and some water to keep it alive. On her little desk it sits in the sun. Precious and peaceful it stands in the glass. Life is similar to this. The flower represents new life, the little girl is the mother, the vase is the surroundings the new life is exposed to and the water is the combined knowledge of her surroundings. The new life was put into water so that it may absorb all that it needs to live as long as it can. The girl is overjoyed with her new life. As time passes the flower starts to whither, but not because the water was not sufficient. It is because the moment it was picked it was on its death bed. We can enjoy the time with the flower when it stands tall and healthy. But, like life or as life, all things must come to an end. The little girl was saddened to see the flower wilt away and fall into the shade, but this is not her fault; It is life. Enjoy the flower while it stands erect and caress it down as it withers.
