Gods Of War - Poem by Julian David

Souls sold for antiquated crude

As enemies crossed over boundless tundra

And vast deserts to duel

Quietly does the spirit of death

Sweep across the blood soaked terrain

And the Angel of mercy does the like

As she eases our fallen soldiers' pains

Bereft of truth, this war in the Middle East has been for naught

And I pray for the lives that were corruptly packaged for this reckoning

Packaged, parceled and bought

At times I wonder if our dead would protest if they could

Against the very lies for which they fought

Though now gone and expired forever

They breathe no more

Doomed to the cold cauldrons of their eternal sepulchers

By the wicked Gods of war
