Parting Is Painful
She was there, beside me blank
Her hand kept safe in mine
On her face old age had drawn a thousand lines
But her eyes were that cute old wine
Her face, sharp, supple and strangely still
Through her body, occasionally passed a shiver
It was me and her sunk in that weary hospital smell
Thanks to the stubborn cancer in her liver
Shouts, moans and that creepy atmosphere
Was killing my lady's faith and spirit
But together when we recalled those crazy old days
I could see her eyes slowly get lit
She asked me weakly "do you still love me ...
