POEM OF THE DAY
Weather

Once I dipt into the future far as human eye could see,
And I saw the Chief Forecaster, dead as any one can be--
Dead and damned and shut in Hades as a liar from his birth,
With a record of unreason seldome paralleled on earth.
While I looked he reared him solemnly, that incandescent youth,
From the coals that he'd preferred to the advantages of truth.
He cast his eyes about him and above him; then he wrote
On a slab of thin asbestos what I venture here to quote--
For I read it in the rose-light of the everlasting glow:
'Cloudy; variable winds, with local showers; cooler; snow.'

POEM OF THE DAY - MODERN POEM
Love After Love

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

POEM OF THE DAY - MEMBER POEM
Mirror's Cruel Gaze

I come to a room adorned with whispers of time,
Where the shadows dance in a rhythmic rhyme,
And there, an old woman stands with a heavy heart,
Gazing into a mirror, looking at the crooked work of art.

Her eyes, once bright, like stars in the night,
Now hold the weight of a fading light.
Lines etched by years, like tales on her face,
Each wrinkle a chapter, a journey to trace.

POEM OF THE DAY
After

Take the cloak from his face, and at first
Let the corpse do its worst!

How he lies in his rights of a man!
Death has done all death can.
And, absorbed in the new life he leads,
He recks not, he heeds
Nor his wrong nor my vengeance; both strike
On his senses alike,
And are lost in the solemn and strange
Surprise of the change.
Ha, what avails death to erase
His offence, my disgrace?
I would we were boys as of old
In the field, by the fold:
His outrage, God's patience, man's scorn
Were so easily borne!

I stand here now, he lies in his place:
Cover the face!

POEM OF THE DAY - MODERN POEM
The Unborn

Sometimes I can almost see, around our heads,
Like gnats around a streetlight in summer,
The children we could have,
The glimmer of them.

Sometimes I feel them waiting, dozing
In some antechamber - servants, half-
Listening for the bell.

Sometimes I see them lying like love letters

POEM OF THE DAY - MEMBER POEM
Shadows Deep

In shadows deep, a love once bright
Now shattered glass, in dead of night
He took my heart, with careless hand
And left me here, in broken land

His whispers sweet, like summer sun
Now echoes cold, as day is done
The promises, now broken lies
A haunting ghost, beneath the skies

POEM OF THE DAY
"Oh Day Of Fire And Sun"

Oh day of fire and sun,
Pure as a naked flame,
Blue sea, blue sky and dun
Sands where he spoke my name;

Laughter and hearts so high
That the spirit flew off free,
Lifting into the sky
Diving into the sea;

Oh day of fire and sun
Like a crystal burning,
Slow days go one by one,
But you have no returning.

POEM OF THE DAY - MODERN POEM
Sea Fever

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a gray mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

Memories Before The End

In a dark jungle, I saw this hart
There stood a knight not much afar
Seeing the hart that I loved with all of my heart
I went to protect it with my bare hands
As I couldn't bear the pain that I had.

As I saw the knight's glare
I suddenly heard the gunshot's flare
Remembering all the happy memories since the start
Knowing that this would be the end that would keep us apart.
