A Hard Life

a single bullet lodged in his heart
graspin for his last breath of air
he thinks to himself that nobody will cry
he thinks to himself that nobody will care.

for i have seen his life
through my very own eyes
a past full of grief
and so many lies.

his daddy had died
momma sold him for crack
he lived in a box
ate from a garbage sack.

he cried everynight
tears like no other
a constant wish
for the return of his mother.

for you see this boy
was emotionally dead
now his lips are blue
eyes rolled back to his head.

a horrible death
for this young lad
a hard lonely life
was what this boy had.
