'A Lady' - Poem by Michele Wachter

I am a lady first and foremost;
A creature of substance,
Of intellect and beauty.
I am not a mere object or desire.
I am a soul that cries when it hurts
Laughs when it is happy
Feels when it is touched.
I am a woman who is filled with compassion.
Confident yet humble
Passionate yet reserved
Independent yet needy.
So look beyond the outer shell
To the very being of my core
And you will see....
I am a lady first and foremost.
