A Moment's Picture - Poem by gordon nosworthy

the human
squats on a cold city street
camped under a mexican blanket
an empty plastic coffee cup
balanced and despairing between his knees
a stranger hurries past
hands jammed in winterized pockets
glances toward the camera eyes
bypasses the existence of the huddled mass
perhaps doesn’t notice
what is downcast deep inside the hoodie:
a picture of a moment
in the membrane of humanity
