As I Turn - Poem by Marcia Gravett

As I turn to walk out the door
He calls my name
Something in me tells me to go
Something in me tells me to stay
As I turn around to look at him
He can see my tear stricken face
His eyes look right into mine
I start to feel naked and bare
Stripped of securities, faith and love
Shivering in hope - he will come back
Freezing at the thought of him not been here
Mortified at the fact he is with her
As I turn to walk closer to him
My heart starts racing, could this be true
I take one-step closer
Knowing that I love and need him
As I turn to hug him
He pulls away
As I turn to his face
He says 'I forgot to say goodbye'
