Feelings - Poem by Celestina Ripley

I call to you,
But you don't call back;
Feelings for me,
You seem to lack.
You are like a distant
Mid-summer night's dream;
Never to be touched,
But forever be seen.
Your face is a vision
That I always see.
Your arms I dream,
Will forever hold me.
But then you see her,
And then she sees you.
And I wish for your love with her
To never be rekindled anew.
I should be the one
Whom you hold tight,
The one who you love,
The one who you think is right.
But you will love her
Now and forever more
And I will be to you
A friend, nothing more.
