Freehand Love - Poem by Michael J. Burt

I wanted to write you a poem
so that you could know how much you hurt me
when you did the things that you did
but I couldn’t find the words to put onto paper
and I couldn’t develop the strokes to move the pen.
All I could think about truly
was writing about how I wanted to tell the story
about how you left me alone to wonder
and to think that it was me that was the reason why
we are over when it was really you.
