Here's To Us

Here’s to us
Here’s to what could have been
Anyway
All those missed opportunities
If only I had thought of something charming to say
You wouldn’t have gone away
Maybe it’d be my hand that you’d grasp so tightly
Maybe it’d be my lips you’d kiss so lightly
Yet here I am
Alone
Only accompanied by thoughts
And wishes
Of what we could be

I see you and me
Together
Laughing
Embraced closely
The stars in the midnight sky
Reflecting against your deep brown eyes
I’d look at you until your face was burned into my mind
So that I could remember this moment
And these feelings
Once they left us

As you pass by
Our eyes meet
For a moment
And we picture the same thing
We are together
Forever
In memories
For they last an eternity
Never changing
While we change everyday
And
We drift
Further and further
Away
