I Try Only For You - Poem by Max Dunlap

I have hidden myself,
Behind all this music.
Away from you, simply because,
I offer love before I lose it.

Many songs will be written,
Some for you, I'm sure.
I will write those songs,
But your love is the only cure.

All songs I write,
Every last one for you,
If that won't win me love,
Then please, give me a clue.

I try so hard, you see,
So that you can have one guy,
One guy that will always stay,
I know I can only try.

You probably wonder,
'Why won't he give up? '
All I can say is that
I am more difficult to trump.

Please, my dear,
Listen to me now.
Let me hold you close,
So in my love you won't drown.

Isn't it amazing how we will try almost anything
to be loved by the one we love? ...
