If I Could - Poem by Jack Mehoff

if i could sing i would write you a love song and sing it for you every day,
if i could dance i would sweep you off your feet and spin you around the floor in a smooth seductive way,
If i could swim i would cross the ocean to be by your side forever and a day,
If i could fly i would steal a star for you as headed on my way,
Across the many miles, to be with you to stay.
if i could write my feelings down there would be volumes to say,
If i could paint the future it would be sunny, not gray
If i could mold your likeness, it would be in flesh not clay
If i could touch your face just once, it would be my grandest day
If i could climb a mountain for the distance of the view,
If i could see that distance i would be looking just for you
If i could just have patients, these dreams they might come true
f i could give you flowers they would be wild just like you
If i could build us a house it would be of logs straight and true
If i could pick the perfect spot on a hill with a view
If i could carry you through the door we'd have rings made just for two
If i could fashion gold and stones i'd design just the thing
If i could slip it on your finger 'I wed you with this ring'
If i could throw a party after it would be for just us two
because in the end, against the world, it is just ME and YOU
