Just Once More - Poem by Lora Colon

I'm breathing, my heart's beating, I can feel,
I must be alive, I just don't know what's real,
Sick and tired of my solitary realm,
Adrift, without knowing who's at the helm

I reach out for no one, searching the air,
And I recite my prayer to no one there,
Surrender is tempting, but it feels wrong,
Life has taught me to keep singing my song

And sing I will for my lonely heart's sake,
It doesn't matter how long it may take,
The quest's the same, even in this late hour.....
Who will bring me from my lonely tower?

Who will take my hand, who will hold my heart,
God knows loneliness had a headstart,
And it's hell-bent on setting the tone,
But I never liked the sound of alone

A new morning dawns, pausing to greet me,
But it's the cold, lonely nights that defeat me,
Despair overtakes, weak grows my desire
To face a new day, to walk through the fire

But morning finds me looking for the sun,
Repairing the damage the night has done,
Once again, hope comes to knock at my door,
One more time, I'll open it...... just once more

I think my wife could relate. I thought that the night was to repair the damage the day had done. I guess it can work both ways. Nice rhymes. Thanks (Report) Reply
