Kayra Poem by Jack Aryan

Kayra

Oh girl, oh girl
Ruthless in her gentleness
Ruthless, ruthless
Ruthless in her beautifulness
Her laugh deceived me
And her tear betrayed me

And I didn't know before today
That these eyes knew how to betray in this way
And I didn't believe before today
That compassion could be this way
Oh this girl,
I knew how much I didn't know her
And I saw how much I didn't see her
She was telling me 'I love you'... 'yes' she was saying
And from this pain in my heart, everything she said i was believing
I was seeing and hearing and feeling her heart
I was living not for my sake but for her art
I was her drawings, she were my songs alter
I wrote her on poems, she drew me to water
And I didn't know before today
That these eyes knew how to betray in this way
And I didn't believe before today
That compassion could be this way

Oh teacher of love if only I...
If only I didn't learn it with you and did not see it
Why did you deceive me, why did you make me?
Make me forget the world and live in its sweet
There was not two like is that was seen as we say in our love here
The dream we were dreaming and completing together
Why did you awake me in the middle of paradise with fire and tear?
And I didn't know before today
That these eyes knew how to betray in this way
And I didn't believe before today
That compassion could be this way

My heart, tell love to get out of my way
I wish hell upon any new love from my own play
If I were to come across an honest heart
I wouldn't trust it and and protect it
And if her eye were laughing I would laugh like a bard
And deceive it and maybe betray it
Like the others among us who sell out and act
We sell out the life of love and its pact
Like when my heart was wasted
You waste all the hearts after it
And I won't tell you... no my hard heart
Why do we blame love?
This that betrayed you betrayed the youth of love
Betrayed and wronged them
Meaning me, you and love
We were a plaything in its palm
And I didn't know before today
That these eyes knew how to betray in this way
And I didn't believe before today
That compassion could be this way
