Personal Holidays - Poem by Kelly Kurt

While the rest of society goes oblivious to them
And marks their calendars with the traditional
I silently commemorate personal holidays
April fifth, my first kiss
July third, when I bought my first house
November first, my first heartbreak

I celebrate the birth anniversaries of my children
And the lesser holidays too
Like Christmas, Thanksgiving and Independence Day
But I honor the memory of memories
On my personal holidays

Very nicely depicted personal holidays, when we want to delve deeper to those moments of life and give full freedom to our thoughts to reach the memories. (Report) Reply

What a clever idea for a poem! What an inspiring idea for a lifestyle! And the three examples are excellent: I can relate to all of them. I only wish you had written more stanzas, because there are so many other examples Y-O-U
can come up with, that will amplify listing your personal holidays is a disguised biography. Make that autobiography.

Good for you. Brought a smile. You are right - these traditional holidays are a big hullabaloo. Thanks for sharing. (Report) Reply

I'm glad you agree my friend. Next week is the 44th anniversary of writing my first poem.: -)
