Rivers Running Blind - Poem by Sarah Louise Persson

Rivers Running Blind

I remember all those times you said, that loving me's like sunshine,
The warmth between us comforting,
Never needing any shade,
Never needing anything,
Just my thrilling heart to sing.

I remember all those times we played, your laughter was my banjo,
The songs we sang together,
Playing gently on my mind,
In my veins to last forever.
Almost all of all of time.

I miss you when I wake up,
I miss you all the time,
The stories told could never be,
Like memories in my mind,
Like rivers running blind.

And all those little things you did,
It was easy to love you,
My happiness showed never more,
Than when spending time with you,
Nothing more could see us through.

Oh I miss you when I wake up,
I miss you all the time,
Since the day you left forever, now imprinted on my mind,
Like memories in kind,
Like rivers running blind.

But I still have time to thank you,
Even though you'd never know,
That everything my heart desires,
You gave me with your heart beat,
You shared with me your body heat.

And I miss you when I wake up,
And for sure its all the time,
The day you left forever still imprinted on my mind,
Still my memories, they don't mind,
Swimming rivers, running blind.

Reading this poem is like overhearing a conversation never met to be heard by others and yet far worse is the realization that it had to be written at all. Bittersweet and beautiful hardly begin to capture something so personal. (Report) Reply
