Sniper - Poem by Liz Wiseman

A scope closing in
On words floating from her mouth
Switch on the dim
Stop any tears from flowing out

Emotions hit the ground
In the fetal position I can think
Inquire surviving another round
Can I manage if I sink

Cells click in my head
'Turn your defences on'
Flex muscles to take the hit
Find any weapons you have to draw

I've sailed without a crew
Through seas and storm filled waves
It's all I know to do
It's the life I didn't make

So leave as quick as you can
I don't need any dead weight
To me you're no longer a man
Take whatever you can take.
