Straight Girl - Poem by Chandra Hohmann

Before you

I never thought I could want something so much

Before you
It wasn't possible

Every second I want to touch you
Hold you
Even when you aren't there

It isn't just in my head

It's in my arms
My hands
Lips

This strange urge to run my fingers through your hair
To wrap my arms around you

Laughter
All around me

In me

I'm happier for you simply existing

I never thought I could want something so much

Especially something I can't have

Something I'll never be allowed to touch
Straight girl…
