You, Me And Somthing We Lost - Poem by Matthew Kieffer

A peace that finds
A man so lost
A link that binds
My past to yours

As the candle dies
The room grows cold
You learn the lies
That I’ve never told

I needed you then
Like I need you now
Don’t walk away
I can’t go without

For what I have done
This is what I must do
There’s no going back
I must see this through

I leave you with nothing
I take what I can
Forgive me for leaving
I’m only a man

Please stay for the night
In the morning, I’ll be gone
Riding into the fight
Thoughts of you linger on

I have no pride left within
Is there nothing I can do
I have nothing to win
If I don’t have you
