At The Beach - Poem by Sean Godley
Tide was out and the flat sand
had a film of wet that saw a heaven;
it was pure and white to look at.
The sheet of the sky on the bed of the ground
glared at me, and made me salute
to the ocean, as I stared at a part,
wishing to take it all inside
at one glance, and maybe after,
come to an understanding.
Beyond here waves were raging,
in the dark distance and behind,
but where I stood, it was still as death.
