Begin – End - Poem by juselle dayaon

I heard your melancholic whispers
I can feel your tortured soul
And yet despite all of these
I’m powerless to do anything

Many times I tried so hard to ran to your side
Whenever hopelessness plagues you
Yet all my efforts are put to waste
For I’m kept locked in a prison with no walls

How I wish I could have wiped the tears off your face
Kissed your loneliness and chased your pain away
But alas, fate and circumstances will not permit
For our differences is too wide to bridge.

I remembered the very first time we met
You were all gloom, sad, and distraught
It seemed you greatly detest the life you live
Or better yet, disdainfully reproach this world

But days pass one by one, you started to change
Your masked smile started to turn real
Your perspective in life completely changed
You became a totally different person

But sadly, things didn’t last as we hoped we did
We have to go our separate ways
I have to leave you not of my own accord
But because I have no choice but to go

I saw the pain in your lovely eyes
But I heard no angry retort or harsh words
You just kept your silence, nothing but dead silence
And with your head downcast, you simply walked away

Now years have passed, I thought you’ve moved on
I can see your smile again, but its just a mask
I heard the beating of your heart as you looked to heaven
Uttering a silent prayer or a silent prose

And as the sky forms an angel
I saw that distant look in your eyes
With a formless form I touched your face
And planted a fleeting wistful kiss

I’ll utter these words to you once again, in hope you’ll hear
Though distance and time is our foe
I’ll hold all your promises true
And all the tears you wept, I’ll keep in my heart

Now like all encounters, ours must end
We’ll face different paths, you treading life alone
But don’t worry, no matter where you are
I’ll always be just a few steps away.
