Co-Dwellers Of A Village Poem by james watkin

Co-Dwellers Of A Village

1/

We grew up with them; friends, all.
A folk, proud in the tree.
Against affronts of weather
Standing their ground - with glee!

As we aged they aged. Shadowed
By what, sturdy and strong
Assumed more and more what, sage
Impressed for beings - long!

2/

Of all in a monument
Past embattled ground's
Best serves as a testament
To perseverance
Look no further, looking back
As we, do those birds.
Shouldered, sheltered did not lack
Windy view's calm glance.
