Comin Home - Poem by Buddy Bee Anthony

When I called on you,

you were called away.

To consecrate a child
on the Sabbath day.
Books for teaching
don't prepare for blood lust battles
fought with armoured hearts.
I'm passin this warriors baton.
in my final race
So long bums, ghouls and jokers
the waste of
this place.
I'm passing the baton
I'm out of the race
comin home to baby's momma
Comin home to stay.
I thought I knew all the right answers.
As a ladies man and a pretty good dancer
Now, I find it's a chore
to make any sense when I speak
I'm on a protracted
losing streak
So I'm comin home

Lordy Momma
comin home to stay.
In your arms
I'll duly invest.
With you blessing my corner
I'll bypass the rest.

That's why I'm comin home

Lordy Momma

I'm headin out your way

been ridin the rails

since, getting kicked off the bus

I'm hungry for some lovin

without all the fuss

That's why I'm comin on home

to baby's momma

one last time

I know the way

Papa's comin home

to baby's momma

comin home to stay

for tiny a flicker of your flame

To the devil with guilt

be damned the shame

Papa's comin home

to Baby's Momma

comin home to stay.

I'm rollin down the interstate

on the red eye

train to fate

and I'm runnin late.

I'm comin home to baby's momma

comin home to stay

comin on home to baby's momma

comin home today
