Conceal

Hiding from retribution
Hiding my shame and guilt
My fears and disgrace
Burying sorrow and pain
Drained of peace
What remains is disdain
So much to say yet unspoken
The heart of pain and suffering
As I conceal how I feel
Love has no face
As darkness fills that space
False is the face that hides the pain
I wear a mask to conceal how I feel
Behind my concealing mask I am less afraid
Something disingenuous is portrayed
The mask is not who any of us are
It's to conceal my heart and its ugly scar
Conceal
