Marcellino Carlo

Damask Tapestry - Poem by Marcellino Carlo

There you were wrapped like the 'oly babe
sweet and innocent in your white 'n' blue
Your shoulders peeking like naughty children
o'er the cotton curtain that you hid behind
And I stole a kiss on to your glass frame
and smelt the sex in your auburn hair

I knew the night terrors haunted you in the
pale moonlight. But you never knew it twas me
that stared at you longingly as you folded your mind
inside itself. A scared lil' angel wrapped in
swoddelin' cloth. Ay' can I steal your heart
as you gamble with your mind?

You'd ne'er cry would you? But your soul
beckoned the harsh eau from Night's gloomy
shroud. And you cheated a shiver from yer
wooden bones. Softwood grain slitherin'
out beyond your cover. I'll keep you warm
under the blue 'n' white patterns ma cherie
Let's hide our heads and the stitching our dreams free
