Egalitarianism - Poem by Kelly Kurt

All men are not created equal
Short, tall
Weak, strong
Privileged, disadvantaged
Myriad differences
No two the same
These diversities should not preclude opportunity
Education, healthcare
A living wage, a voice
Freedom, hope
Sixty-two people
Sixty-two people have more wealth
Than the poorest three and a half billion
Squandered, under taxed, untaxed
Wrested from the hyper-exploited
Ev il
Unsustaina ble

    You have embodied here,
    The true American dream
    Of individualism,
Even the leaves of a tree
    Are different
    One from another,
    But there is nothing perfect
And there are always a handful
That skim the milk of its cream.

Very well written full of wisdom

Social security, medicare, unemployment ins., Govt funded education through High School, infrastructure, etc etc. We are a socialist democracy already. The word just has some bad connotations associated with it. Of course there is a practical limitation with any ideology that can be abused.

Careful what you wish for, socialism and communism are not akin to freedom. It is excessive government
that nullifies the opportunities for all. That has most of our money and then bankrupts it all.

I am no left wing nut but Bernie Sanders thinks along the same way

    1 person liked.
    0 person did not like.

We can not change the inequalities but we can at least provide opportunities to them who are inferior to others in one way or another. When I see a disable person engaged in a profession and not begging I prefer him on others whether he is a shopkeeper or a workman. (Report) Reply

Every human deserves a decent life. The greedy, unethical super-rich have to be limited

It is hard to believe that this inequality has gone so far.

I have tried to edit and fix the two words towards the end of the poem that have a space between letters but it keeps posting them that way. (Evil + unsustainable) (Report) Reply

Many problems with the operational aspect of this site. I hope they feed the squirrels better : -)

It seems that when you edit a poem, it takes the squirrel running for a few minutes to generate the power to update your work.
