Escape - Poem by Aaron Swanlek

Theirs a lock that I cannot shake,
A combination I cannot break.
Every day, I plan my escape.

I have spent my life locked in this cage,
Still I hide my inner rage.
One day I could see outside it all,
Maybe I wont feel so small.
I’ve had all I can take.
Still I plan the escape.

I look inside to think of what’s out,
This issue inside keeps gaining clout.
I am a prisoner inside my own shell.
Nor heaven or the pits of hell
Cannot abate,
And yet, I will escape.

For a gain you must lose something in exchange
What PRICE, is freedom?
To gain new life you must lose old
I know now my escape.
