Flagging - Poem by Ruth Walters

The flag hangs limply now,
its better days blow behind it,
it's colours fading.

I remember when it was vibrant,
shone like the sunshine
as it billowed softly.

The flag hangs limply now,
bedraggled like my dreams
and I cannot touch tomorrow.

Great use of metaphor and ambiguous poetry, sad but strong last line as the fading fabric thins and tatters, remaining proud in its essence. (Report) Reply
