Francis Arinze - Poem by samuel munachim

John Paul at last is dead
Who now will succeed him
Who will be the next pope
Say Francis Arinze?

I dare say he will be
The first swarthy pontiff
Nigerian leading Rome
Negro king of the world

Hail Francis Arinze
Soon enough to be pope
A prophesy as sure
As sunrise at the dawn

I loved the former pope
He was patron of peace
But I will love Francis
My brother and my kin

He will lead the people
Like Jesus Christ himself
With the keys of Peter
Will take them home to God

I ask Celestial dons
To move the hand of God
That Francis may approach
Saint Peter’s Cathedral.
