Gradual - Poem by thamoula papayia

you can't breathe
the air has stolen your feeling
i pull it tighter around me
surrounded in a cool comfort
can't find words tonight
will you ever
stay a while
lose track of time
the measurement that can count a life
but deny one, too
have you ever
it's okay. that doesn't matter
press your face in mine
bury it deeper
feel warmth again
the calm settling in
a peace of heart and mind
both creating a soul
i don't have to go
fingertips glide and trace
contours of every inch
every morsel of skin
eagerness leads to impatience
silence, and speechlessness
had nothing to say
so much to take in
pictures are worth a thousand words
i tend to disagree.
who needs words
when it's there in your eyes?
