Lesson 1: Breathe - Poem by Faatima VWKS

A tear falls
leaves a salt trail
My hands shake
my teeth; they chatter
The phone lays await
paused in my lap
God make him dial me first
why must it be me?
I dial a four
followed by a seven
Wiping tears
choking back sobs
He's not home
I smile in self-loathing relief
