Lesson 1: Breathe - Poem by Faatima VWKS

A tear falls
leaves a salt trail
Inhale
My hands shake
my teeth; they chatter
Exhale
The phone lays await
paused in my lap
Inhale
God make him dial me first
why must it be me?
Exhale
I dial a four
followed by a seven
Inhale
Wiping tears
choking back sobs
Exhale
He's not home
I smile in self-loathing relief
Inhale
