More Than Words - Poem by Amanda Schmidt

I love you more than words can say,
It grows and grows with every day.
I look into your eyes and see,
The love you've always shown for me.
You hold me close to your heart,
And I never want to be apart.

But then there came the day,
When you said you had to go away.
You used to say we'd last forever,
Now you say we'd see each other never.
I don't know how I survived that night,
Without you be my side holding me tight.

Now you have returned to me,
From across the lonely, distant sea.
You pull me into a warm embrace,
And the pain is gone without a trace.
I start to ask you how,
How did you come to be with me now?

But you hush me with such a sweet kiss,
And all I think is 'I don't believe this.'
Is this a dream or reality?
Could you really be here with me?
I love you more than words can say,
And as time goes by, it won't fade away.
