My Little Muse - Poem by Bridget Bush

My little muse all sad and broken
from giving away her love
now she sits on her knees
and mends her papier-mache heart
she pastes a tear below her eye
a vibrant blue below brown
that twinkles in the moonlight
easy to give in yet willing to be strong
she finishes her darning
with uplifted eyes she looks around
ready to give in again
she is so strong and ready to go on
to give her gift of love again
so take of her heart
it's so easy to burn
she glued it together so perfectly
place her on a pedestal
and treat her how she deserves to be treated
