My Lost Life - Poem by Elizabeth O Connor

I longed for the day you were to be born
little did i know my heart would be scorned
to beautiful to live i knew
i thought my love would keep you with me
my heart was broken beyond repaire
to know you would no longer be there
i go on each day of my life
knowing you get me through trouble and strife
you are my Angle you are my life
i thank god for showing me the light
for whatever we are blessed with with
no matter how short
you are my son
you are a love
