Snow Man - Poem by Kelly Kurt

Four spheres, one at a time
Each starting out as a clump in my hands
Rolled and aggregated
Leaving green trails behind
The first; terminating where it would stand
Secured in place by packing
Successive balls in descending proportion
Stacked in ascending stature
Bonded with brethren
Bedecked with branches
Humanized with stone eyes and mouth
Left in the sun to melt

Wow! Love this one. It ends like a senryu. With the contrary ending. I was making that snow man with you as I read. Well done. (Report) Reply

I think you're the base... And your family sits on top....
Or it could be society in general as you suggest.. Or you could be the whole darn thing...Ot... It's just a really cool snowman as you said! ! ;)

Thanks, Pam. I had fun making the snowman and even more fun writing Snow Man. Was I the Snow Man? Is it society in general? Up to the reader.

Leaving green trails behind successive balls of snow man are shining in humanized eyes. Very fantastic presentation definitely. Likely a fantastic poem shared....10 (Report) Reply

As the snowballs gathered size, the grass was exposed, leaving a maze of green paths in their wake

Even the first ball, that ended up being over 3 ft in diameter started out as a 4 one

Even though I am living where there is scarcely any snow this poem takes me back to the days when we used to build snow men with everything you noted and sometimes a carrot nose too. (Report) Reply

I use the same basic technique all the time. Most people stop at 3 balls. I get a ladder and sometimes even use 5 balls, making a very tall sculpture

I hope the snowmam looks like Olaf - :)

I am too much of a 'Frozen' fanatic actually :)

    Thanks for sharing Kelly..

Thanks, Souren. This piece started as the result of having just made a 7 foot tall snowman because I am still a kid inside. But the poem turned into 'Snow - Man', A commentary on the state of humanity
