Soaring Free - Poem by Sanne Fenright

Birds flocking in
One

Feathers flowing by the wind
Silently, never ceasing

Eagles soar high
Pictures of greatness

Beckoning
Calling

irre sistible

Oneself
Trying and trying

Warm up
Back out

up and down, up and down

Propelling forward
Hanging back

up and down, up and down

Continuous, monotonous
Steady as a hearbeat

up and down, up and down

Don’t hold back
Hold a breath in the chest

up and down, up and down

Roots relieved
Claws uprooted

up and down, up and down

Getting ready for take off

Listening
Breathing

up and down, up and down

Vast wings beating with the wind
Surfaces moving swiftly

to and fro, up and down

Breaking the translucent glass
Soaring free

to and fro, up and down

Flying with the eagles
a limitless

up and down
