Truths Economy - Poem by Andy Brookes

pieces pierce

no not love
something more,
less than expected

welded in
brazen passion
our psyches melded
by its heat
now torn asunder

dull ache
deep longing.
internal feral shouts,
hollow my centre

tormented nights,
in black sheets,
cold shiny.

wallowing's not my thing
but contentment's elusive
so slippery a creature.

fooling myself
it's better to live alone
than live a lie.
