What Happens? - Poem by Colleen Delaney

what happens,
when you feel,
all you ever had,
leaves?
all you have ever known,
evaporates?

love,
no longer,
smiles down upon you.

requisite love,
disappeared,
changed,
icy and harsh.

when it hurts,
to smile,
to cry,

everything,
hurts,
but why?
exasperating to the point,
of pain,
inflicted by self,
rectifying problems?

knife,
smiling,
friendly to the hurt,
rectifies their problems,

she resorts,
to pain,
but why?

She is loved,
everything is still here,
he loves her,

he tries,
to convince her,
how she is,
perfection,

knife,
dropped,
no blood shed,
not tonight,

his love,
overpowering,
creating a heaven,
in this hellish world,

she is safe,
from seeing,
crimson fall,
from her own skin,

realizing anew,
life is a series,
of good and bad events,

she is.. loved,
albeit,
she,
faults,

carmine qualms,
scars from the past,
to be renewed,
ne'er again,
for,
she is loved,

his necromancy,
stopping her,
from returning,
to her consuetudes,

she realizes,
she is felicitous,
to have someone,
so.... wonderful,

someone,
loving everything,
she is,
helping her,
through her misery,

he's there to hold her,
as she cries,
steadily,

he's her outlet,
her confident,
he cares for her,

loving her,
keeping her alive,
making her,
smile,

his necromancy,
used,
time and again,

the knife,
pain,
no longer rectified,
by a cut,

his love,
strong enough,
for her to overcome,
anything.
