What Is Your Fate - Poem by Katrina Mathy

Across from me
A tree stands
Full of wisdom
Full of tales

Its branches knot with travels
Reaching at the sky
It has the scars from the many years
Of peace and war

Standing here with lovers names
And marks from lawn mower blades
I have made happiness
And I have made tears

Over the many years
I have made many fears
History repeats as I have seen
Through hate and tears and love and fears

I do know this
And I might not know
But for this I know
Live and love your life

For it does not last
As long as I have
I have seen three on a cross
And the ones of the noose

I have seen the trees bloom
And fires doom
Through the years of crime
And lying

For I have seen it all
Love, war, hate, and peace
Life, Death
Destiny and fate

For now you see
What I have seen
What fate can bring
And death to be
