When She Calls - Poem by A.j. Binash

It's always after midnight
I know because I shout
'Hello! ' Into the phone
Over the neighbors stumbling (some people cannot handle their alcohol)
I am intoxicated as well
Be it on:

When she speaks
I mute the white noise
All those ideas
That go with death, love and taxes

And I wonder
After she calls
If the knife in her hand
Is bloody with imagination

From stabbing at my muscles
Slowing me to her pace
Till I fall

And shout from a distance
'Wait for me…'
