21 Trips Around The Sun - Poem by Tyler Comstock
21 Trips Around the Sun
All eyes on the clock, the second hand concludes my 20th
Another year fell victim to total indifference
And here, I can hear my days pile up with
More decisions to be made, a whole future to gain, so?
Into this age I send myself, again without plans
I plan to collapse and forget this wasted year
Spent devoted to a life that’s disappeared
But I understand that it's typical
To hold on to memories you’ll never taste again
While attempting to sort through pictures
Of a summers long ago and friends that you used to know
And there below their frozen faces
You scribbled the names and that ancient date,
And you can't believe that its really gone.
