A Couple Of Tears - Poem by David Tan

This changes nothing,
about what I know to be true
And of eternal significance
yet seems irrelevant
Leave in rebuke of the people,
or has that point been made?

A couple of tears,
thats all I can feel or muster.

The Response & Responsibility,
now is mine.
Its not your problem anymore,
hope you're not worrying about it.
Because I can't do anything else
numbed from the preparation.
Too calm,
all the years of experience kicking into effect.
Don't know how else to deal.

I guess I'll sweep up whats left,
of my hopes and dreams.
Re-gather & Secure my soul,
that was poured out.
Put on the mask,
that is too familiar.
Or run to Him,
who is Faithful.

Running away would be easy,
did I come back only to run again?
I don't know how else I could have,
given you the assurances you need.
I don't know if I can deal with
changing perceptions
Admittedly, it was not ideal,
the time, but I did not have anymore.

So I'm left here with only a couple of tears.
