A Face Always Smiling - Poem by Paul Kinsey

Oh God, how do I cope
With this life I’ve been dealt
For as long as I remember
This despair, I have felt
These feelings that come
From deep in my heart
From the people I love
It keeps me a part

In your own home town
But nobody knows you
Surround by love
That nobody shows you
Know every crack on the pavement
Had my head down too long
Tears that I shed
From hearing the wrong song

Friends and family are there
To stop you feeling blue
Keep smiling they say
But not so easy to do
Put on your best face
To make them feel good
Got to keep smiling
Because you know that you should

From deep inside
The pain rips me apart
But how can you fix
A non-existent heart
You keep it well hide
From the people you know
The smile on your face
Is the face that you show

The pain that I have
That just can’t be mended
The life that you live
You wish sometimes ended
Friends and family don’t know
The hidden pressure that’s piling
For you can’t tell the suffering
On a face always smiling….
