A Thousand Pieces - Poem by Ricky Perron

It's cold outside this morning
As I watch the sun come up.
The stars and moon have faded
As I face this new day.
Shadows fade from yesterday,
But not from my heart.
The darkness overwhelms me
Falling, falling...

So take this heart and crush it
Just like you've done before.
The pain inside is bursting
Please make it go away.

I look outside my window
As I watch the moon shine through.
The sun has gone
And my pain lives on
Through my bleeding heart.
It screams.

It shatters like glass
but more easily broken.
This curse will never be lifted.

So take this heart and crush it.
Just like you've done before.
The pain inside is bursting
Please make it go-

This heart.
It's crushed.
A thousand pieces lay.
This heart.
My heart.
Please make it go
Please make it go away.
