Erin Forbes

Aftermath - Poem by Erin Forbes

There is nothing left to feel
Just pain and sorrow
There is a hole in my heart
So deep it is hollow

Can anyone fill this gap?
Can anyone fill this space?
I loved him so much
Who will fill his place

I'm better off without him
That I know for sure
He doesn't have a heart like mine
So kind, innocent and pure

I have my strength
He broke my heart
Try as he might
He will never tear me apart

I will get through this
I still have my dignity
He wanted one thing from me
That was my virginity

But my instincts stopped me
From making the biggest mistake of my life
Imagine the regret I would feel
And the intrigue of a sharpened knife

But I'm not going to be that girl
To harm herself over a guy
He was the fool who made a mistake
But I'll be the one to pick up the pieces of his lie
