Alfred Lord Tennyson - Poem by Clive Culverhouse

Alfred, Lord Tennyson just looked down
not caring I was there
as I looked up at him in mutual silence
Whatever he was holding kept his mind
while mine was pondering his
A giant with Lincoln's stone giant behind

Cast before me, his dog, too, oblivious
sat by his side loyally
A master to his pet, a master of the word
a master placed in history
In bronze, statued in poetry
and standing high
