And Then You (Shaken) - Poem by Venus Lanaux

I'd had grand ideas of poetry that I'd be able to write.

Easily would it flow with my goals far from sight

And then you-

You came into my life.

I would have been fine, but it seemed timeless, so ideal...

You seemed to comprehend all of the ways that I feel,

And lead me to question all that I knew to be real

And then you-

You reminded me that elation is only temporary,

Returned me to a time so contemporary

And sent my auspicious dream straight to the cemetery,

And then you-

Changed your mind.

Although my thoughts were twisted and blurred,

What makes this the lesson that I learned...

A concept so truly absurd,

Bonded, I am 'Shaken', not stirred.
